The Fisherman...

Atticus had a wonderful time at the cabin (infact, as soon as they had left to come home he was asking to, 'Go back to the cabin, please'). Dillon and I enjoyed our time together as well and I think he appreciated a bit of mommy-time without any competition.

They headed out Tuesday morning in less than encouraging weather, but, thankfully for them, the less-than-encouraging-weather stayed here...

The Church boys switched off riding with Atticus (and I'm told he wasn't much fun to ride with either).

I don't really know what's going on here, but it looks to me like Atticus thinks he's just won the game.

He got to sleep in Grandma and Grandpa's room on the top bunk. He was pretty happy about that.

Meeting his first Jack fish. He usually wants to 'hold' every living thing, but he was happy to just touch this one.

The rocky walk up to the cabin from the boat (which is one reason why Dillon stayed home). He likely made this trip many times.

When he talked to Vin for the first time since he'd gotten back from the cabin I asked him what he had done at the cabin. He screamed with excitement, 'Pencil drumming! Pencil drumming!' And sure enough he did drum some pencils (that was what stood out in his mind!?!)

There were a number of snacks that contained Smarties, and Atticus dug out the Smarties (and discarded the rest) from every one of them (in a secret corner it looks like).

Uncle Wendell showing him the ways of the fishing world.

Looks like that one got kept. Atti did see some 'bonking' of fishy heads ('knocking', he called it), but requested, 'Don't knock the fish head', at times.

He even managed to have a few tube rides. And not slow ones either.

Atticus back to defend his championship title of pro-gamer.

Hauling wood to make a fire so he could cook up his own diner. He's independent like that.

Actually, they all had to haul wood from the dock area up the rocky embankment to the cabin. That's how they earned their keep (yup, Chris too).

His turn to fish. Grandpa left him with the fishing rod to reel in the line, and then if he felt anything pull or the line got stuck he was instructed to call Grandpa to help him.

The first fish he caught and reeled in. A big moment.

And a decent sized fish (but lucky for it, not decent enough...).

Leaving the cabin and the bounty of fun it provided.

A little friend they met on the way home. Don't think Atti is too interested in 'holding' this one.
