Library run

Last week I took the boys to the library for the first time. It was definitely hard to keep their enthusiasm (quiet) to just a few books pulled off the shelves at a time.

There was a puzzle area that we didn't run into until we were finished picking our books, but next time that is where Dillon will spend his time (Atti is pretty good to just pick a few books and sit down and look at them, but the fun for Dillon is in pulling books off the shelves).

We made it out of the doors with 2 new library cards, a 'Handy Manny', 'Winnie the Pooh', and 'Thomas and Friends' dvd, and 6 books (all of which they picked and really none of them were bad picks). 2/3 dvds have bad scratches and don't play very well, but otherwise I think they did a fine job.

Dillon's been riding Atti's trike for some time now, but can't get the feet-on-the-pedals concept. Just when we think he's going to get a few turns of the pedals he moves the handle bars and one foot slips off and then he resorts back to pushing his trike along with his feet.

So this is what ends up happening. And he never tires of it (Dillon, that is, Vin and I tire of it very quickly).

We brought Vin along to the paddling pool with us this time. I think now that he knows the system there he'll bring the boys while I'm at work/sleeping for something fun to do and a change in scenery from our basement or backyard.

The water is pretty cold unless you jump right in and keep active. Dillon was in no way prepared to do that so he just played from the edge; whatever toys floated over is what he played with.

Ya, this is how he 'rides' his trike; pushing it along. And he stops at every rock, leaf, bug, mud puddle, truck, car...

Pretty much like this. And we have to affirm that, yes, that is grass, a leaf, a rock, dirt...A 30 minute walk can consist of 5 houses with Dillon.

It may have been the greatest evening of Atti's life week; Tristan and Sami came over to Slip N' Slide (it's already broken, though). He was already ready for bed when Tristan came by the front step to see Odus, but Atti heard him so I let him go out for a few more minutes (which turned into 45). I knew the kids were going to the lake for 5 days the next day so I figured a later night and a change into dry jammies wouldn't be such a crime for Atticus (he's been asking for Tristan 20 times a day since they left).

Seems Tristan doesn't understand the rules of playing with a 3 year old; you have to let them win at least 1/2 the time or they get sad and pout.

It's been really fun having Tristan and Sami as neighbors. They have really nice parents, too, and that's worth a lot when you expect to live next to them for years to come.

This is actually the next evening before bath time and bed. Atti got these finger paints for his birthday but this was the first time I pulled them out, and the idea of putting your fingers hands in the paint went over very well.

The masterpieces (excuse the undies; less mess to worry about).
