Continuing on...

This is a continuation from the last post. I thought since the boys are amusing themselves with their bikes in the backyard I'd sit out here with them and finish what I started.

But, there's tears already so we'll see how long this goes.

Pets in the Park was a bit of a let-down. There were lot of dogs walking around, but as far as entertainment or interesting booths and whatnot there wasn't much (imho). Silas enjoyed himself and all the friends he got to sniff, but we were a bit on edge that he'd play the alpha card that we kept him on a pretty short leash.

These 2 were the only creatures other than dogs that we saw. They just sat on the edge of the path and were COMPLETELY unconcerned with ANY of the dogs that walked by and (of course!) were interested in them.

It was a rather hot day and I'm pretty sure any one of the boys in our party would've jumped into the river if given the opportunity.

The wake-board competition was on at the same. Dull. Glad we didn't come just to watch it.

Odus is almost loved to death. He's such a cooperative cat I can hardly believe it. He's almost 11 and really only had to deal with kids bothering him for 2 years out of his life, so the fact that he's so willing to accept whatever is done to him is amazing to me.

The other day Tristin (the 10 year old neighbor boy) was over. Atti had just gotten a 'Handy Manny' DVD from the library and was super excited to watch it again. He eagerly asks Tristan if he wants to watch it, and of course Tristan says, no. Concerned that Tristan will leave Atti quickly tries to think of something fantastic he can offer Tristan to do to keep him here...'You wanna chase my cat!?!'

It worked 'cause all the kids love this sport. Poor old Odus.

Horse #1 (Packin'theFire - please, if you have any 1-2 syllable name suggestions I'm all ears). I've been riding her 3-4 times a week and have started her over trot poles. I think she's going to make a great little show jumper, and I love her energy.

Horse #1

Horse #2 - Kentucky Justice (I think that name is pretty cute, I call her Justice, mostly). It's common for race horses to lose a bunch of weight when they come off the track. I'm feeding her a bunch and working her lightly so hopefully she'll put on some weight before winter (although it can take up to a year for some race horses to gain enough). She's really quiet and has a super calm disposition (and she's only 4). If she wasn't bleached out her coat would be much darker (I'm going to sheet her soon as it comes in, that'll also help her with the mosquitos and thus make it easier to gain some weight). She's in no hurry to go anywhere or cause any trouble and I think she'd make a great show hunter.

The Slip N' Slide . Dill won't do it, but Atticus LOVES it. I've even been on it. Good fun.

It's supposed to be done with a person on each side; you race to the flag and try and grab it before the other person does.

Silas even likes it (although a vigilant eye must be kept or he'll cool himself in the 'pool' at the end).

If his left hand was a bit more to his left it'd have even been a cooler picture. Sadly the great Slip N' Slide has a terminal hole in it, so unless we come across a really big patch kit...the kids might have to resort back to chasing the cat for entertainment.
