We were at Mom and Dad's yesterday to see the Burlando clan. Carrie, Chris, and the boys were there too. We left after supper amidst a battle on Dillon's part to get his coat and boots on. Of course he fell asleep in the truck and on waking him up at home was a complete and total basket case. Got him into the house and after more battling to get the very same coat and boots off I told him if the crying didn't stop immediately he'd be getting his jammies on and going straight to bed. The crying tapered off but didn't completely stop so we agreed upon getting his jammies on and seeing how things went. He settles down as I'm dressing him so I ask why he's crying so much. He says, 'The children like me no'. What children I ask. 'At Gammagampa's. Make me sad.'
Now considering all of the children at 'Gammagampa's' were his cousins I'm pretty sure they liked him. Not to mention I KNOW the crying had nothing to do with anything other than being tired. But still, hearing my little 2 1/2 year old say the children don't like him was so sad and pitiful.
So as to be fair and include Atticus...
The other day I see him in the hallway trying to convince Dillon to play with him the way HE wants him to and not just run around crazily. He bends down with his face inches away from Dillon's and says in a very stern, matter-of-fact way, 'But we're family. Families stick together.'
