Glad to have fertilized!

The weather hasn't been such that we've been able to ride bikes, but I'm not complaining about the rain. I'm eagerly awaiting the lush green grass to crop up (I know it's there somewhere!), so if it takes a week of rain I'm totally down with it.

The kids, on the other hand, have had to ride their bikes in the garage out of bike riding desperation. Dillon still doesn't like to use the pedals so it takes him a good deal longer to get anywhere just shuffling along with his feet, but he loves it and doesn't know the difference.

I'm likely sporting this fantastic expression at the thought of how far I'm inevitably going to have to carry Dillon and his tricycle, while walking Silas, to catch up with lightning-bolt-Atticus and Vin.

I'm not sure where Atticus saw a little boy with a windmill, but he got it in his head he needed one as well. So we made them. Vin came up with the design and supplies from around the house and we fashioned ourselves some paper and wooden windmills (that the kids promptly tossed aside when they got 'real' ones at the Family Expo - ungrateful). I thought it was rather ingenious, but this is the sort of thing Vin always did as a kid (if you want a toy you make your own with whatever you can find on the side of the road on your way home from school - I hear he can also make a mean styrofoam gun).

I know some of you take issue with our faithful canine family member {if you think I'm talking about you I probably am ;-)}, but he puts up with so much from these two and only rarely complains (which usually just involves getting up - and dumping the kids off - and walking away). We are dog people and if we're going to have one for the kids we couldn't get one much more child-friendly than this (I could do without the digging, though. Have I mentioned the digging...).

Atticus always likes to keep us guessing. Previously when he'd be sent to time-out in his room he'd wedge his leg under part of the closet organizer until he was stuck and in pai. He's now switched it up a bit and has opted to stand on his head. Ya, I know, he's on a waiting list to see someone.
I was floored when I heard him crying and went in to check on his time-out progress and found this display. He's sobbing here. Loud, uncontrollable sobbing. I grabbed my camera because I wanted to be able to show Vin, because I'd hardly believe unless I saw a picture.

Any of you moms out there have anything similar happen? Do any of your kids do anything odd when they're in time-out? Like I said, he is on a short-list to see someone about some of his unique and rather original behaviors, but he's my oldest so I don't know always know what might be out of the ordinary and what is just normal behavior for his age.

Stories, ladies?

I don't have a lot of experience either, but it seems like he's getting super creative at figuring out how to get you to rescue him from time-out. My daughter will invariably have to go potty when in time-out. Then she usually "accidentally" falls out of her chair.

Awesome pin wheels!
