We were supposed to open the studio on July 9th (we ended up postponing until the 14th) so we had Dillon's 3rd birthday on the 8th. It was a beautifully hot day and since we had the play center up we just filled up some paddling pools and let the kids shoot water and monkey around. I have to say it is really nice to have these simplistic backyard parties that are just as much fun for the kids as a big event type party.
He wanted a green excavator cake but I sold him on the fantastic-ness of a number cake because I didn't have time that week (studio opening). Then I ran out of icing so Vin had to work some magic on the cake (hence the Christmas colored sparkles). Dill put what he calls an excavator on the top and was happy as can be with his cake.
And of course he shares his birthday with his Grandpa.
Presents. Makes for a big present opening when there are 2 birthday boys.
He ditched the present opening as soon as he opened his new digger. I told him he had more presents to open but he tossed over his shoulder, 'No, I'm digging.'
There was a pinata and then that was the end of the play and the beginning of the candy eating.
I made this picture bigger because his face just shows how much Atticus loves his cousin Jared. They call each other their 'best buddy'. I really hope these two remain 'best buddies' throughout their lives.

The play center is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and you're right, so is Vin! WOW... I know I wouldn't handle little helpers with much patience, but what a great experience for the 'men' of the house to have done it together! And heck, the slide part turned out awesome too!!! What a great enhancement to their rich childhood
Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dillon!!! Hard to believe these guys are already 3 and even harder to believe you're having another!!! (Really, put something that shows at least your face and you in general so we see pregnant you). :)
