And it ended up being a blood-bath. I have continually tried to teach Atticus that Ladybugs are our friends, but he just couldn't help himself (when I wasn't looking) but take a hammer to the tree...And then Dillon gleefully joined in.
It was a sad day for Ladybugs everywhere.
But, on a happier note, I/we bought us a house last week. After looking at a lot of houses I found one that was at the low(est) end of our budget but that had pretty much everything we need/want at this time in our family's life. It has a great big yard and garage, and is in a beautiful and mature neighborhood. It's close to schools and parks and I think it'll be a perfect 'starter' (in Canada) house for us. And although Vin only learned about it after I put the offer in (great price so couldn't sit on it until I could get a hold of Vin) I'm confident he'll feel at home there and love it too. We take possession October 14, Vin gets here (for good) October 26. Yeah for us!
And, on a sadder note, my Grandpa (my Dad's Dad) was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (and has progressed to his liver) on Friday. He had his 96th birthday in August, so one way or another his time here on Earth was limited, it's just sad that his last days will be in a hospital dying from such a painful type of cancer. I'll write more about him in the next few days, but for now pray he can find some peace and comfort during his remaining time with us.
