Dill to the doctor...

Dillon's had a nasty cough since last week so on Wednesday I took him to the doctor.  He asked me some questions about Dill's progress and development and the result was him telling me he thinks Dill might be 'developmentally delayed'.

Oh, no.

He said he should be able to sit up, should be jabbering (with consonants), and should be 'listening' to me.

Oh, well, he doesn't do any of those things. And he's going down on the weight percentage scale.

Oh, no.

Nah, I don't really think he's 'delayed', I just think he has never had reason to do any of the above so he hasn't bothered to (although it did get me thinking about the fact that it took him 3 MONTHS to figure out how to nurse). But it almost seemed like he heard what the doctor said about him and he set out to show him that he didn't know what he was talking about; today he was sitting up and he managed to say, "mama" (totally coincidental, but what a champ!). He also listened to me when I told him to set the table, but he still has no reason to since he's strictly breastfed, so he didn't do it. That'll show the doctor "developmentally delayed"!

*As a side note, I think Dill's doctor is GREAT. I'd far rather a doctor think my child may have a problem and address it than just assume he's probably fine and ignore it.
