Atticus' first skate...

His car is a bit snowed in...
Here's a better picture of 'Mount Lu'. Dad took Atticus out to tube down it, but on his first run he hit the bottom and flipped over onto his little face. Minor facial scratches, but no tears.
Went down to the Delta Bessborough to let Atticus try out his skates for the first time this afternoon. I thought he'd want to get them off immediately but he actually lasted about 30 minutes and did pretty well (as long as his hands were being held). I'm not sure of the procedure to help an almost 2 year old learn to skate, but this seemed to work for today.
Initially I just kept my boots on and helped him around the rink, but I put my skates on as well near the end. I wanted to go to an outdoor rink since it was such a beautiful day, but I didn't take into account that there'd be no wall or rail to cling to. Vin asked if I knew how to do spins; I barely know how to get myself around once without falling. And heaven help me if someone falls in front of me and I have to turn quickly (at all). Vin has actually been skating in Taipei and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he came here and swept us all (not hard to do) off our feet.

What a wonderful day to be outside!!
