Since his party is on the 25th I told him he could pick some special things to do today. He chose swimming and McDonalds. It wasn't the longest swim ever, but Suri is a soggy mess with a cold and I didn't think she'd be up to a very long swim (although she did last as long as the boys did). Grandpa Appy sent him a Nintendo DS so the rest of the day (apart from his required book work - notice the page he happened to be at today?!) was spent trying to learn how to use it. The girl from next door happened to stop by, which she hasn't done for ages, and they played for a couple hours.
He got to choose what he wanted for breakfast (Daddy's 'Welcome Home' cake), and sleep in our bed at bedtime. I think all in all he had a good 5th birthday. Bowling with his cousins on Saturday to celebrate properly, though!
