Festival of Trees - our Christmas season begins

Last year we missed the Festival of Trees, but thanks to Mom and Dad we didn't miss it this year (or otherwise we would have). We went to the WDM for supper and then went through the tree display.

It took much convincing to not have them thieve candy from the gingerbread houses. Atticus would stick his nose a centimeter away and beg me to just let him smell them. What a terrible tease to have so much candy so close but so unattainable.

The VERY old mechanical Christmas display. I remember long ago going to Eaton's (I think it was there) and seeing the very same displays. Some of the dolls looked pretty rough and in need of new necks and things, but it's always neat to see them and remember how much I loved it when I was a kid. It'll be a sad day when they retire them all.

I'm not sure when we'll get a tree. I like the idea of having a tree up for most of December (only real ones in this house), but I don't love the idea of it shedding (I have enough shedding to deal with) for most of December. And no lights up on the house yet. Not sure if I'll get to it before Vin gets home (likely not), but the possibility is always there (no matter how remote).
