In an effort to help Jared overcome his fear of getting his face wet we met at Lakewood (the nice outdoorsy indoor pool) to let Atticus try and rub off some of his face-in-the-water swimming skills on Jared (didn't happen, refer to picture at bottom of post). Carrie and the boys and Mom and Dad also joined us for one big family swim time. And it was fantstic!
What a handsome one this is. And he's all yours, Mom, all yours!
In happier times.
Had to keep an eye on these two, especially the bigger one.
Atticus would do anything Ethan did. He followed him around the pool and jumped when he jumped, swam when he swam, water-slided when he water-slided...he really looks up to his biggest cousin. We haven't been swimming with the Church boys since summer and I think Atticus has made a lot of improvements in his swimming abilities since then and really enjoys playing with the 'big boys' now. (and I think this particular 'big boy' really likes playing with him, too)
He can kick his feet to the surface, but I was always right near him to fish him out if need be (Vin was taking the pictures).
Clearly having a good time under there! And I love that they're always holding hands. Too cute.
Post dunking. And not real happy about it.
It was so nice to have everybody there (Chris is in Dominican Republic catching himself a tan) and we will really have to make a point of going more often (except weekends are busy and the Church boys are in school during the week). It's so fun to watch (with eagle eyes!!) Atticus and Dillon enjoying themselves so much in the water. Vin and I were discussing swimming lessons on our way home and his feeling is that we should just continue to take the kids ourselves for now. He's only 3 years old and there's plenty of time for lessons; for now we just want to make sure he continues to love the water and feel comfortable in it. And maybe swimming lessons wouldn't change that, but maybe (at this age, for this boy) they would. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
